For the overall development of a child, a suitable environment at home is a very necessary requirement. If he/she doesn’t find a conducive environment at home, he’s liable to score poor at studies. So a work-friendly atmosphere is a must to bring out the maximum potential of your child. Here are a few tips to create a learner friendly atmosphere in your kid’s room.
- A proper choice of color for the room is a must. While bright colors like red, orange, pink etc. tend to increase concentration, colorful cartoons on the wall can distract him.
- Allocate proper space for keeping his things, like proper hangers etc. for hanging his bag, belt, tie etc. so that he always finds his things in time and doesn’t get irritated while searching them.
- His study area should be properly organized so that every thing is in place. Pens, pencils, glue, pins etc. can be kept in a pen stand instead of scattering them on the table, which creates an untidy look.
- Invest in a study table with drawers and shelves, which can store all the accessories like colors, books, and geometry set etc. which can be used as and when needed.
- Choose a light that is bright and not dull. White light is better than yellow light for study purposes and it saves on electricity also.
- Kids’ room should be away from the T.V. room as the noise produced tends to distract him.
- Nowadays, almost every kid has a computer. Take care to separate the study desk from the computer otherwise he’ll be tempted to play games on the computer.
- Install separate bookshelves and racks in his room, which help ion keeping the room organized and tidy.
- Put up a display board in his room for creative pin-ups, extracts from magazines, school time-table, date sheet, certificates etc. which makes kids proud of their achievements.
- Encourage your child to decorate his own room using paintings, wall hangings etc. which he learns to make at school. This will put his learning to practical use and also make him happy.
- Last but not the least, make your child arrange and clean his room by himself by taking a little help from you. This will cultivate in him the habit of cleanliness and self dependence.
