As the world population is growing day by day, space has become a major concern for everybody. In big cities, almost everyone is forced to live in flats of certain defined dimensions, even after coughing out a considerable amount of money. Proper management of the available space is, therefore, a big demand of the day. Here are a few tips which can be used to manage and decorate small homes effectively.

  1. Instead of using bulky wooden furniture, opt for folding style, which is lighter in weight and easy to transport from one place to the other. One can choose from the wide variety of designs available in the market, according to one’s needs and   budget.
  2. Space under the shelves of kitchen can be utilized to store electronic gadgets, utensils, dustbin etc. by effectively using the modular kitchen concept, which is available at suitable prices.
  3. Use of double Decker beds for the kids’ bedroom, instead of the traditional one, which acquires less space, and also gives a different look from the traditional one.
  4. T.V. can be mounted on the wall instead of using the bulky cabinet or trolley, which saves on a lot of space.
  5. Mirrors of different designs and sizes can be hanged in the rooms which give an illusion of space, and also serve as a decorative piece.
  6. If you want to have some plants in the home, opt for the hanging ones, instead of the potted plants, which save space as well as give a unique look.
  7. The bulky music system can be replaced by making suitable adjustments like DVD player and woofers etc in your desktop computer itself.
  8. Use sofa-cum-bed which serves as a sofa in daytime, and can open up as a bed in the night. Similarly, use a foldable dining table, which can be folded against a wall when not needed, and can serve as a study table also.
  9. Instead of doors that open in or out, use sliding doors, which are quite in fashion these days and also, save a lot of space.
  10. Shoes and sandals can be stored by providing a space beneath the wardrobes, instead of using separate racks for the same.
