Day 18-Working With Joomla Components Menu-Polls

Yesterday I wrote about the News Feeds in article “Day – 17” . Today I will write about next component menu “Polls”.Lets start with the definition of Polls nd how to access it?
What is Poll?

The Poll Component allows you to create poll questions for your site. Site visitors can then respond to the poll questions. This Component allows you to place up to 12 questions, or ‘options’, in each poll question.You can place a Poll on a web page using either a Poll Module (in the Modules Site – Poll) or a Poll Layout Menu Item (in the Menu Item Manager – New/Edit – Internal Link – Polls).

Yesterday I have written in article “” about the Feeds under News Feeds. Today I will start with the next “Category” under News Feeds. I will not write about the list filters and toolbars in this article as they are same mentioned in previous article.
What is News Feeds Category?

News Feed Categories allow you to categorize different website feeds entering your site for better organization. You can also create menu items specific to certain News Feed Categories for a better Front-end user experience.
How to Access

Select Components → News Feeds → Categories from the drop-down menu at the Back-end of your Joomla installation. You can also select the ‘Categories’ link from the Feeds Manager.

Day 16-Working With Joomla Components Menu-News Feeds

In my previous articles Day – 15, I have written about contacts under components menu. Today I am going to write next component menu “News Feeds”. There are two sub menus under News Feeds – Feeds and Categories. Lets start with Feeds under News Feeds components menu.
What is News Feeds ?

The News Feed Manager screen allows you to add News Feeds from other sites to your Joomla site. You can add links to these feeds for users by creating News Feed layouts in Menu Item Manager – New/Edit.
How to Access
Select Components → News Feeds → Feeds from the drop-down menu on the back-end of your Joomla installation, or select the “Feeds” link from the News Feeds Manager Categories.

Day 15-Working With Joomla Components Menu-Contacts!

In my previous article I have discussed about the Banner under Components Menu in articles “Day – 12 “.and ” Day – 13.”, “Day – 14”.
Today, We will start with next components menu “Contacts”. When u click on Contacts under components menu there are two more sub menus – “Contacts Manager” and “Category Manager” . Am going to write about only “Contacts Manager” as “Category Manager ” is same as mentioned under “Banner” . So let’s start with the “Contact Manager”…..
What Is Contact Manager ?

The Contact Manager screen allows you to add contact information to your Joomla site. You can enter information such as name, address, phone and e-mail. You can also link contacts to registered users. Afterwards, you can use the Menu Manager to create front-end links to the contacts. See below contact manager in figure. I have highlighted the column header, toolbars and contact manager header with blue . Let’s discuss about these in detail.

Day 14-Working With Joomla Components Menu – Banner!

In my yesterday article , I have written about the “Joomla Components Menu – Banner.” . Today I am continuing with the next Catagory Manager under Banner. I will omit the toolbars and list filter detail in this article because its same as mentioned in the previous article “Joomla Components Menu – Banner.”
What is Category Manager

The Banner Category Manager is where you can edit existing Banner Categories and create new ones. Note that Banner Categories are separate from other Categories, such as for Articles, Contacts, News Feeds, and Web Links.
How to Access

Select Components → Banner → Categories from the drop-down menu on the back-end of your Joomla installation. You can also select the “Categories” link from either the Banner Manager or the Banner Client Manager.

What is Client Manager

The Banner Client Manager is where you can edit existing Banner Clients and create new ones. Note that you must have at least one Banner Client and one Banner Category defined before you can add your first Banner.

Welcome to the Day 12 of your Joomla Website Setup series. Today I am introducing you to Joomla Components Menu. I’ll be discussing all of the items of the components menu in one by one.

What is Component ?

Component is usually a program or a piece of programming code that contains business logic, that can be accessed over defined interfaces, and that may possibly also have a user interface.
The Components Menu

The components menu contains

* Banner

* Categories

* News Feeds

* Polls

* Search Statistics

* Web Links

Today we will discuss firstly about “Banner” . Banner consists of Banners, Clients and Categories as shown in below figure.

Banner

The Banner Manager is where you can edit existing Banners and create new ones. You can also navigate to the Banner Client Manager and the Banner Category Manager. You must add at least one Banner Client and Banner Category before you can add a Banner.

Welcome to the Day 11 of your Joomla Website Setup series. Today I am introducing you to Joomla Front Page Manager. Now, we’ll discuss Front Page Manager. Almost all of the options available for Front Manager are same as those in Article Manager and except the few. So, I’ll be omitting those from this discussion and discuss only the ones which are new.

What is Front Page Manager

The Front Page Manager controls the Content Items that are set to appear in the Front Page (Home Page) of the web site. Individual Content Items are identified for publication here in the Content Item itself where the Show on Front Page check box is checked.
